nominations open for 2023 board of directors

The nomination process is now open for the 2023 Board of Directors of The London Potters Guild, doing business as London Clay Art Centre. The election of five (5) new Directors will occur at our Annual Meeting in January of 2023.
Nomination Period - June 1 to August 9, 2022
The Rules for Nominations
As per our Bylaw under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act:
  1. The Corporation shall invite submissions of the names of persons to be considered for election to the board.
  2. All nominations shall be in writing and shall be accompanied by:
    1. the name and contact information of the person making the nomination;
    2. the name, contact information, and a biographical outline of the nominee and such other detailed information concerning background and experience as deemed necessary by the Nominating Committee; and
    3. the consent of the nominee to act as a director, if elected.
  3. In selecting candidates for the board, the Nominating Committee shall also consider “the skills and selection criteria as established by the board” [see below].

Skills and Selection Criteria as Established by the Board
As we are about to enter an exciting time of organizational growth, we are now specifically looking for five (5) passionate community-minded leaders who come with experience in finance, business plan development, fundraising, and grant writing experience. Of course, we don’t expect one person to possess all those skills. We are assembling a team. And we are asking for your help in doing so.
At the May Board Meeting, the Board of Directors established the following Skills and Selection Criteria. Here is our wish list:
  1. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about charities, specifically OURS!!!!
  2. We are looking for clay artists and non-clay artists alike, but we are looking for nominees with the qualities and skills listed below. By the way, you can nominate yourself!
  3. Do you know someone with expertise in finance (i.e. an accountant)? If so, we could use them for the treasurer’s position.
  4. Do you know someone who has experience in business plan development? We’ve got some very interesting projects in the pipeline!
  5. How about someone with fundraising experience, especially in the non-profit sector?
  6. Do you know anyone with grant writing experience who would be a good fit for our organization?
  7. And we could also use folks who have expertise in
    1. marketing,
    2. communications,
    3. web development, and
    4. volunteer engagement.
As mentioned before, this is our wish list. If you or someone you know is a self-starter, energetic, and community-minded, you\they may be the person we are looking for.
Submitting an Application
Please use the format stated above to put together your application and submit it between June 1 and August 9 to:
