The London Potters Guild/London Clay Art Centre invites artists residing in Canada to submit work for the 2019 Biennial juried ceramics exhibition, Put A Lid On It.

JURORS
Mary Redekop , who grew up in Creemore, Ontario, holds a BA and MA in Art History from the University of Toronto. Mary continued her education at the Sorbonne in Paris, Mudflat in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and at Boston University. Since retiring after thirty-five years of teaching visual arts in secondary schools, she has had a brief career as a full-time potter, has taught in Western University’s School of Continuing Studies and at the University of Toronto where she won several Excellence in Education Awards. She is frequently a guest lecturer for the University of Toronto Alumni Association. Currently, she teaches courses in art history as a fund-raising project for the Art and Travel Committee of McIntosh Gallery at Western University. Since 1980, Mary has led more than sixty groups, both adolescents and adults, to Europe and Central Asia to share her passion for the art, culture, food and wine of these areas. Her other passions include opera, chamber music, baseball, her three adult children and their families, and her dogs.
Jeremy Jeresky is a community arts practitioner, researcher, and educator and has worked with a wide range of individuals and groups to bridge art with social engagement. He is particularly interested in how considering art as therapy, activism, and communication can encourage community participation.His recent academic interests lie in the philosophy, pragmatics, and politics of Western Cultural Policy within public, corporate, and philanthropic sectors.

DETAILS
Eligibility:
- Open to all ceramic artists 18 years and older residing in Canada.
- Artworks must have been completed within the last two years.
- Pieces must have a lid or lids.
- Submitted work may be either functional or sculptural.
- All works must be primarily ceramic.
- Mixed-media works will be accepted only if clay comprises at least 80% of the artwork.
- Piece must not be smaller than 4" (in any direction) and no larger than 30".
- Pieces over 25lbs or complicated needs to be set up by the artist themselves.

It is the artist's choice to submit two images (one with lid on, one with lid off) or just one image of the work (either lid on or off)
The London Potters Guild/London Clay Art Centre reserves the right to use submitted images of artwork for publicity, documentation, education, and promotion.
Entry Fee: The $30.00 entry fee entitles each artist to submit a maximum of three entries (sets are considered one entry).
Sales: The London Potters Guild/London Clay Art Centre will take a 30% commission on sales made during the exhibition. All submissions must be eligible for sale.
Rules: All accepted work must remain for the duration of the show. Submission of the entry form signifies the artist’s understanding and acceptance of the rules of the exhibition.
Shipping: Artists are responsible for shipping their work to and from Strand Fine Art and insuring it while in transit, during the exhibition and the return transit. Shipped entries must be securely packed (no styrofoam peanuts) and sent in substantial reusable containers. Double boxing is strongly recommended. Accepted works should arrive at the gallery no later than March 27, 2019 by 12 noon.
Return Shipping: Artists must make prior arrangements with the London Clay Art Centre and must provide containers and a pre-paid return shipping label to cover return shipping costs of unsold items. Artwork left with the gallery for more than 15 days following the closing of the show becomes the property of The London Potters Guild.

Liability: Every reasonable precaution will be taken during receiving, installing, exhibition, and return of work. The London Potters Guild, its members, volunteers, and the London Potters Guild/London Clay Art Centre will assume no responsibility for loss or damage incurred.
