The E-Clay Project, in partnership with the London Clay Art Centre is working with a team of teacher artists and eight Guilds/Not-for-Profit studios to develop ways to teach online, interactive pottery courses.
Each course will have eight classes and is part of a research project. Each course is being taught by an experienced instructor who is part of the team developing the best ways to teach pottery online in an interactive and dynamic way.
An advanced wheel pilot project course is being offered during our winter session. This course is for students who have taken at least two wheel courses previously, are proficient in the basics, and have a wheel at home (as well as a means to fire their work). This course will be once a week for 8 weeks on Saturdays (12pm - 3pm), from February 4th to March 25th, 2023. It will be taught by Chris Snedden (https://chrissnedden.com/about-chris/).
As a student, you too will be part of this exciting project offering your insights about your experiences throughout the taking of this course. When you complete the course and do the evaluation you will be given a $100 rebate. We value your input and hope you forgive any hiccups we may encounter.

Class Description:
In this Advanced class taking place over Zoom, the students will explore various production techniques to produce pieces that are of a consistent size and shape. Plates, mugs, bowls, and more will be demonstrated. Methods for producing work more quickly and with greater consistency in form and glaze will be explored. Students will need a liner brush (a brush with a long bristle), and a set of calipers.
No materials or facilities provided.
Dates: Saturdays, February 4 - March 25, 2023 (8 weeks)
Cost: $180 plus HST (remember there is a $100 rebate after completion of the course evaluation)
Student IT requirements:
• Computer with webcam or laptop with webcam near where they will be working.
• Cellphone or tablet as the main source of video streaming while they work.
• 2 – 3 lights (could be lamps, clamp lights, ring lights etc.)
• Tripods or mounting mechanisms as needed for the cellphone/tablet/camera and lights.
• Microphone (ideal but not essential)
