COVID-19 Policies & Procedures at London Clay Art Centre
The health and safety of students and staff is important to us! We have enhanced health and safety measures in place, developed to be compliant with the guidelines developed by the Ministry of Health in partnership with public health, the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, municipalities, as well as with Ontario’s Framework for Reopening the Province, safety and operational requirements and rules. All staff and students are required to wear a face-covering while at the facility.
In addition to class and workshop size being reduced (less than 10 people) and physical spaces being altered so that there is a 2m distance between workstations, staff and volunteers clean and disinfect regularly. Please review the documents below for more detailed information.

Camp Safety
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, we have enhanced health and safety measures in place. These were developed to be compliant with the health and safety guidelines developed by the Ministry of Health in partnership with public health, the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, and municipalities, and distributed to local public health teams earlier this month, as well as with Ontario’s Framework for Reopening the Province, safety and operational requirements and rules.
Camper’s safety is the first priority. We offer an enhanced ratio of staff to campers. There will now be one staff with every four children, with a maximum of two staff and eight campers; each camp group will stay together for the entire week. There will be only one camp occurring at a time, so each group will not interact with other campers.
Each camper will be asked to agree to a code of conduct while at camp, including physical distancing, respiratory etiquette and frequent handwashing. Campers who are unable or unwilling to follow the camp code of conduct may be asked to leave camp to protect the safety of all participants. As always, positive behaviour management will be implemented prior to asking any child to leave camp.
Cleaning of facilities will occur more frequently with special attention to high touch surfaces like door handles and tables. Shared spaces and common areas like washrooms will be cleaned between uses.
Caregivers will receive a mandatory phone call prior to camp start to review procedures and do a pre-camp health check. Completing the call with staff is required for your child to be admitted to camp. Caregivers will also be sent a LCAC Camp Caregiver Manual.

Arrivals
LCAC Camp incorporates a new camp drop off routine. Everyone will enter through the rear/North entrance. The parking area will have 8 designated, distanced camper drop-offs. With caregivers (age 18 and older with knowledge of the child’s health) present, staff will conduct a camper daily health screening that involves caregivers answering several questions. Campers that have symptoms of COVID-19 will not be admitted to the camp program and caregivers will be asked to take the camper home and have them tested at the local assessment centre.
Caregivers must do a temperature check of campers at home each morning. If the camper’s temperature exceeds 37.8C, please keep the camper home and call the LCAC office to let staff know. Campers who have not had a temperature check will not be admitted to camp. Additionally, if anyone in the household is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, the camper must stay home.

Illness at Camp
If a camper falls ill while at camp, they will be placed in a quiet room with a staff person and isolated from the rest of their camp group. Caregivers will be contacted to pick up their camper immediately. The caregiver will be asked to take the child to a COVID-19 assessment centre to be tested. If a negative result is confirmed the child will be allowed to return to camp.
