Community Engagement

London Clay Art Centre (LCAC) is the home of the charitable organization known as The London Potters Guild (LPG). Members of the LPG have a strong sense of community. Annually, we participate in several local festivals and events such as Home County Music & Art Festival in London's Victoria Park, and the Annual Traditional Pow Wow & Harvest Festival at the Museum of Ontario Archaeology. We have also showed off LCAC each fall during Doors Open London as well as during Culture Days.

LCAC is proudly located in London's Old East Village. We are avid supporters of the revitalization efforts of the Old East Village Business Improvement Area as well as the associated organizations in the neighbourhood. Individually, members of the LPG support many organizations.

In 2017, our Canada 150 Mosaic Project catalyzed community engagement and support. It also spawned two other community-inspired public mosaic projects that can be seen in the Old East Village.
  • Neighbourhood Decision-Making Program - in 2018, we gained the most online votes for our proposal to install mosaic wayfinding signs in the OEV. One can be found on the northwest corner of Dundas and Elizabeth Streets. The other larger mosaic is on the southeast corner of Adelaide and Marshall Street.
  • City of London Gateway Project - also in 2018, we worked with the City of London to cover four concrete structures leading into neighbourhood parking lots adjacent to LCAC with mosaic tiles.

H. B. Beal Secondary School is only half a kilometre from LCAC, which makes it easy for BealART ceramic students to access our facility to enhance their education. Each year we present the Edith Pierce Memorial Award to a BealART student who shows outstanding progress and plans to continue their studies in the clay arts.

Empty Bowls fundraising events have been held in North America for over 20 years, with millions of dollars raised toward the goal of ending hunger. Since 2013, we have teamed up with other local organizations to support this event.
